The 3 Best Tent Camping In Lofoten, Norway 2022

In July 2022 Eetu and I travelled to Lofoten, Norway with a tent in our car. We decided that we will spend some of the nights in the wild and some of the nights in the camping areas with warm showers and toilets. Picking the right place to pitch your tent is crucial if you want to get good amount of sleep! That is why we analysed all the camping sites in Lofoten and chose the best ones by comparing the prices, services and reviews!

1. Sandsletta Camping

After hiking on a rainy day we were cold and exhausted and we found out that this campsite offered a sauna by the fjord! We did not think twice and drove straight to this camping area to warm up. At additional charge you can rent the sauna and hot tubs privately for yourself. We were lucky because another family wanted to rent the sauna on the same day and we decided to share the cost and use the sauna in two shifts.

About this campsite:
  • Price for pitching a tent: 300NOK for a night (you can park your car next to your tent)
  • Reception opening hours: 8-23
  • Warm shower: 10NOK for 4 minutes (2 showers for women and 2 for men)
  • Toilets: 2 toilets for women and 2 for men
  • Restaurant: There is a restaurant at the area that offers food and drinks
  • Kitchen: There is a kitchen with 2 cooking stations and sinks free of charge for the guests.
  • Sauna: 600NOK for private use for the whole evening
  • Hot tub: 1200NOK for private use (has to be booked on previous evening)
  • Activities: Area has plastic boats (rowboats), canoes and pedal boats that guests can use free of charge
  • Laundry: there are two washing machines and a small rack where you can hang your clothes

We used the boats at the area for fishing and checking the surroundings. It was amazing to explore Norwegian fjords and mountains and we actually managed to catch a cod! That was pretty cool to be able to catch the fish by ourselves so we also prepared it for lunch 🙂

2. Camping Raften

We spent our first night in this campsite and we were very happy for the price and location. This is a self-serviced camping, where you pay for your stay at the automat inside the building. This camping was definitely the cheapest one of the 3 since it only cost 150NOK per night with your tent. The surrounding area of the camping is used for sheep pasture and you can see them right next to the camping area!

About this campsite:
  • Price for pitching a tent: 150NOK for 24h (you can park your car next to your tent)
  • Opening hours: You can arrive at any time, since it is a self-serviced camping with a card automat.
  • Warm shower: one shower for the whole area, but it is free!
  • Toilets: 2 toilets for women and 2 for men
  • Kitchen: there is no kitchen, but there is a station where you can wash your dishes and there is a place for fire, where you can grill and warm up your food. And there are 2 places where you can eat – small red hut with a view and a wooden shelter.
  • Other: There is a small playground for children.

3. Skagen Camping AS / Lofoten Beach Camp

This campsite was the busiest of the three but it offers a lot of different activities and you can pitch your tent right by the beach! BTW Sunsets at this campsite are amazing!! This campsite is very big and you can choose if you want to pitch the tent next to the main facilities or next to the beach. The location of this camping is great, since it is easy to reach Reine, Ã…, Kvalvika/Ryten and other sights from here! If you love surfing, yoga and playing volleyball this place is right for you.
